Albert Einstein could not speak until he was 5 and he was a rebellious child. Today we have a disease for rebellious children. It is called oppositional defiance. If Albert Einstein was born today, we would have prescribed him a number of drugs. Who knows he could have been a zombie on Ritalin and we wouldn’t know E=MC2 .
In our society, we are too impatient to deal with a disease the right way and result to using pills. Time and time again we’ve been shown proper dieting helps diseases disappear. After all, humans have existed for thousands of years somehow. 7 out of 10 Americans are taking one or more prescription drugs (Science Daily).
We order a heart attack, high cholesterol, high blood pressure on our plates for dinner and follow it with diabetes. We act so surprisedly when we have heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, cancer, arthritis and are overweight. Very few of these are genetic.
Our health is a choice we make every day with the food we eat. Our main issue with dieting is we don’t put time aside to prepare food. Time is always there. It’s whether we want to use it for Facebook or to cook something healthy instead of going to McDonald’s.
It’s a sad fact it’s cheaper to die from bad food than to live from good food. Our body can’t function off cheap food. Junk food has been perfected in a lab to create an addiction.

The ancient warriors would snack on chia seeds and drink them with water and lemon while at war. Aztecs weren’t the only civilization to use chia seeds. The name chia comes from the Mayan word for strength. Chia seeds were a wealth of health and a currency. The benefits of chia seeds are best worded by nutrition coach Tara Goodyear who calls chia seeds the “Muhammad Ali of nutrition because it is a nutritional powerhouse that jabs a punch of protein (Goodyear).”

When I wrote chia seeds help you lose weight I am not suggesting you should go on a diet that only consists of chia seeds. You can add chia seeds to your diet, but the goal is to make your body not work as hard as it is right now by changing your diet. Easy digestion means more energy. When your body isn’t using so much energy to digest bad food in your body it can give you more energy to perform your tasks during the day.
Chia seeds help move out all the free radicals taken into your body and any of the bad food causing inflammation in your body. Positive intestinal flora is promoted by drinking or eating chia seeds. Chia seeds keep everything moving through your digestive system and makes sure you eliminate waste.
Balances blood sugar and restores the omega 3 balance.
Being overweight can cause diabetes. There are so many articles you can read online about people losing weight and no longer needing medication for their diabetes. The high fiber content in chia seeds helps lower blood sugar because it is cleaning your system of inflammation. Your omega 3 balance is what regulates your insulin levels. Chia seeds are made up of powerful omega 3’s that regulate your insulin levels.
How to add Chia to your diet?
Unlike butter, you only need a little!
- Add a tablespoon of Chia seeds to your smoothie in the morning.
- Add Chia to your favorite tea, juice, or water. Chia will not gel in acidic drinks (MySeeds Chia Test Kitchen).
- Add chia on top of salads or in salad dressings.
- Make chia pudding. Here’s a great recipe to start off with from Daily Burn.
Vanilla-Almond Chia Breakfast Pudding
Yields 2 servings
Prep time: 5 minutes
Soak time: 1-8 hours
2 cups unsweetened almond milk, homemade or store bought
1/2 cup chia seeds
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-2 tablespoons pure maple syrup or raw honey
Seasonal fruit for topping
Almonds or other nuts for topping
- Combine almond milk, chia seeds, vanilla and sweetener in a bowl. Mix well until combined and the mixture begins to thicken. Store covered in the refrigerator overnight or for at least an hour.
- Stir well before serving and add a bit of water to the pudding if it becomes too thick. Top with fresh fruit and nuts of your choice.
Note: This recipe makes enough for two large servings, but feel free to double the recipe and keep it in your refrigerator so that you have breakfast for a few days in a row. It will keep refrigerated for up to 5 days (Morin).

When You Fail to Plan, You Fail to Plan
When you don’t plan your meals it becomes easy to grab food high in sugar or salt to get the energy you need. Eating is as much a promise of life as death and taxes.
